Given the problems with locked ldb MS Access files, a second best solution to teh problem of modifying an active database would be to add fields while it is on-line. Can you help me with this?

I can program in standard VB, but am most comfortable using Dreamweaver's MX shortcuts. But either way would be helpful.

You can use the ADO and ADOX libraries with COM interop to modify an Access database. Just add a reference to "Microsoft ADO Ext. <Version> for DDL and Security" from the "COM" tab in the "Add Reference" dialog (note that you should replace "Version" with whatever version of ADO you are using). Also note that you will have to reference "Microsoft ActiveX Data Object <Version>" to use ADOX because ADO.NET is not compatible with this library.
