Outlook 2003 errors when checking email

Hi, I just installed Outlook 2003 and installed the service pack for it.  But whenever I start Outlook up, it automatically checks my email accounts, and whenever it does that, it errors.  It also makes duplicate copies of emails in my inbox.  Here is the error msg I get:

AppName: outlook.exe      AppVer: 11.0.6353.0     AppStamp:408f2937
ModName: msvcrt.dll      ModVer: 7.0.2600.0      ModStamp:3b7dfe39
fDebug: 0       Offset: 000320bc

I tried replacing msvcrt.dll, but it didn't help.  Anybody have a solution?

Thanks

Hi CityRoamer,

Try this one by one and check if anything helps

a)Open outlook .Go to help menu and click "Detect and repair". Check if this would help.

b) Repair PST : http://www.slipstick.com/problems/scanpst.htm

c)Also take a backup of all emails and go to control panel ---> mail --> delete the profile and recreate one again

Regarding duplicate emails depends on what type of account you have in outlook like POP3 or IMAP.

Also try recreating the email account to see if that would help

Thanks for the advice.  I tried all of those methods but there were still errors.  I ended up backing up everything and reinstalling Office XP completely.  It seems to be working so far.

Easily manage email signatures in Office 365

Managing email signatures in Office 365 can be a challenging task if you don't have the right tool. CodeTwo Email Signatures for Office 365 will help you implement a unified email signature look, no matter what email client is used by users. Test it for free!

Thought a,b and c methods should have helped you even before reinstalling. Anyway my next suggestion was to reinstall office.
It is always not a good idea to start with reinstalling office to solve the issue but unfortunately sometimes that becomes the only solution

If the problem doesnot come back , please come back and close this question

thanks

Seems that Outlook is still messing up after all of this.  The same problem still exists.

Outlook still has errors right after it loads and begins to check mail.  It has something to do with downloading new messages from the mail server.  If I just download the message headers, it will do it... then I mark the ones I don't want as deleted, then do send/receive, and it updates the mail server without crashing.  So that is my current solution.
