Hello,

Along the installation process of Oracle 9i iAS Infrastructure, I get the following message:
-----
Error in invoking target install of makefile
/u01/app/oracle_linux/product_iAS/sqlplus/lib/ins_sqlplus.mk

(help) (retry) (ignore) (cancel)

---
Can I ignore this message and continue the installation ?
How can I resolve this issue ?

Hello,

I ignored 2 tiems this error, then I get a similar error saying:

Error in invoking target ioracle of makefile
/u01/app/oracle_linux/product_iAS/rdbms/lib/ins_rdbms.mk

I get similar messages for a few other makefiles.

How can I resolve this PB ?

You can have a long list of reasons that the link process would fail - check your logfile.

You've progressed past your original sqlplus makefile problem, but a common fix for that error is to open another window and run $ORACLE_HOME/bin/genclntsh and then hit 'retry' in your original window.

If that fails (depends upon your version of the dynamic linker) then use the following:

- open a new window
- su - (change to root user)
- set ORACLE_HOME=<your oracle home directory>
- edit $ORACLE_HOME/bin/genclntsh and change LD_SELF_CONTAINED="-z defs" to LD_SELF_CONTAINED=""
- sh $ORACLE_HOME/bin/genclntsh
- hit the retry button in the original window

Since you've now got lots of invalid and/or unlinked binaries I would try de-installing 9iAS and re-installing it and check if this resolves all the linking problems.

Hello,

I try to uninstall Oracle 9i iAS Infrastructure, I get the following error:

Install has destected an invalid Active EMD Home configuredas
/u01/app/oracle_linux/product_iAS. Possible
cause for this error may be a previous
installation of Oracle9iAS that was not completely installed or deinstalled. Please
perform a deinstall on that home

I try to completely remove the directory three, but the install keeps saying somethins is installed?

What now ?

On a unix platform you should remove the emtab file from /etc or /var/opt/oracle. Also check the /tmp directories.

Then retry the deinstall/reinstall.

Hello,

Someone told me to look at the oratab file located in the /etc directory.
I editied the last entry in that file, but still remain with the same problem, any other suggestions ?

I need to reinstall Oracle 9ir2 iAS infrastructure + Oracle9ir2 iAS (application Server).
(9.2.0.1)

PT

PS: That is the normal sequence of things ?
Would I be better off intallin ORacle 10g iAS ?

Did you remove the emtab files in the suggested locations? That would normally resolve the installer problem you're experiencing.

You should ensure that there are no copies of the emtab file in /etc, /var/opt/oracle and /tmp. Then retry the de-install/re-install.

Can you confirm which version of Linux you are using? I'm guessing you're running RedHat 9. This error is common on uncertified versions.

This /DISCARD/ problem is usually due to the glibc-devel-2.3.2-95.3.i386 rpm is missing on your system

The Operating System Requirements are

kernel-2.4.21-9.0.1.EL.x86_64
glibc 2.3.2-95.x86_64
gcc-3.2.3-24.x86_64
gcc-c++-3.2.3-24.x86_64
libstdc++-3.2.3-24.i386
libstdc++-devel-3.2.3-24.x86_64

ORBit-0.5.17-10.4.i386
audiofile-0.2.3-7.1.i386
esound-0.2.28-5.1.i386
gtk+-1.2.10-27.1.i386
imlib-1.9.13-12.i386

tcp_wrappers-7.6-34.i386
setarch-1.3-1.x86_64
