This pretains to an IBM NetVista A40 type 6579-PCU.  I need to know if it can be installed on its side.  It appears to be a box that needs to be installed flat.  I cannot find a users guide online to make the determination.  Can someone provide an answer?  Thanks.

Never seen a box that mattered how you oriented it.  Other than the obvious access to drives/buttons/cables.  Typically, any computer can be mounted anyway.  The vast majority of CD drives out there have little holders on them or have been designed to grip a disk in such a way that the drive can be mounted sideways.  I'd say, turn it on it's side and give it a shot.

Only thing - make sure your not blocking any ventilation areas.  Nowadays especially, those boxes get REALLY hot inside if they can't let the hot air out.
