Touchpad locked.

I have a Toshiba Satelite A45-S151.  The touchpad will not respond.  I have downloaded the latest drives from Toshiba. I  went to the utility and the touchpad on/off is greyed out.  i have tried using the funciton key F9 to enable disable touch pad no response.  Im running this on Windows XP Pro.

Have you tried it in safe mode?

also try removing all existing drivers reboot adn see if windows detects it.

The answer was that the pointing device was turned off in the system bios.
