Hi,

I am getting the following error in the spooler while trying to publish the project via Pro 2003-
0x80004005

I followed the instructions on -
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=328249&product=prj
Point 1 is not applicable and settings mentioned in Point 2 are already enabled.

I also came across a prior posting which recommended installing
- Project Server 2003 Service Pack 1
- Project 2003 Service Pack 1
I tried these too, without any success...

What else could be the problem? Please help!
Thank you...

not exactly your error but worth a look
title : You receive a "There is no information to display in this view" error message when you try to access a Project View
source : http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B810596

after a try did you see any xml files being dropped in the viewdrop ?

Thanks for your response!

But this does not seem to be the issue. This problem has started only recently after installation of SP1.

I am getting this errorin the spooler when I try to publish projects. Also, the updates get saved but do not show up on the PWA.

I did not see any xml files in the view drop folder after the error..

On Project Server 2002 (sorry - not totally up to speed on 2003 yet), there is a setting to tell the server that it is operating in a distributed client environment (people using standalone copies of Project as well as the project portal). If that was not correctly configured, users of the standalone copy of Project would get the same error you are getting now when they tried to publish a project to the server.

Check your the configuration of Project Server to make sure it is set up to function in the distributed environment. Here's the resource for 2002 that talks about doing this -> http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/project/2002/all/reskit/en-us/prk_sdistribdeploy_3535.mspx

Hope it helps...

Look in your system event log (on your local machine, not the project server) and see if you see an error message that looks like this (logged around the time of the error you posted here)

Source Microsoft Project Server
Type: Error
Category: None
Description:
Component: PjMsgHlr
File: Path\pjmsghlr\Msghandler.cpp
Description:
Assert Detected. The error code was also included.</Description

No I do not have any error on my local machine..
BTW I found the solution. There is a hot fix available from Microsoft for this problem - a fix to SP1.
Thanks for your time!
