Citrix\Office 2003 - Licenses

Hi,

Quick question............I'm looking to install Office 2003 on our Citrix server.  Then users will come in through the VPN connection on our new firewall and then connect to the Citrix server and login.  How many licenses will I require if say 4-5 people are logged onto Citrix and using Office at the same time ??

All desktops\laptops are Windows XP Pro & Office XP installed on the desktop.

Thanks

ms say you need an office licence for each POSSIBLE citrix connection that your server can handle.  Citrix do offer to manage licences within their server pool, but ms aren't accepting it yet.
so, Office licences = Citrix Connection licences

So if I've already got 20 citrix connection licenses, I'm ok ?

I've also been told this.............

You only have to install the application office once on the server, but you have to have sufficient licenses to cover the amount of office sessions you have open.

So if you have 10 sessions of word open, you have to have 10 office licenses, but in certain cases if the user has word installed on his client pc then that should cover him using it on the Citrix server.
as far as ms are concerned - you need a licence for the MAX number of users that can be connected.
Say - 100 desktops in the office, 20 Citrix licences for those same users when they go home and dial in.
If, say ms project was installed on 10 desktops, and you wanted to give it to the home users as well, you'll need 30 licences, as that's the theoretical max user base.
I'm on a citrix course right now, and I've just checked with the instructor....
Ok, our situation is like this.....

We have 10 connection licenses for Citrix.  The users who want to use Citrix will have a copy of Office XP on there laptops already, but to make the connection quicker for browsing through network drivers & folders they will use Citrix, and use Office 2003 on the Citrix server.

What now ?  Do I need to purchase the Office 2003 media kit with 10 licenses ?

just an update here - there are some extra considerations if your users wish to "work-at-home" AND you have a Microsoft Select licence in use at your company
check here
http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/programs/sel/default.mspx
and download the doc, and search for WORK AT HOME

they are allowed to use Applications at home (NOT OS's) that they have copied from your Select software, so I think you need one licence per user, not per installation, in this case.  hth!
