HP 3300 Multi Function and Epson Stylus Photo 2200 Conflict

I currently have an HP LaserJet 3300MFP printer. This printer is plugged into my PC via LPT1. I am using Windows 2000 Professional as my OS. I just purchased an Epson Stylus Photo 2200. I installed the new printer (Epson) on the USB port, installed the drivers and the Status Monitor software that they suggest to install. Once installed the Status Monitor does not communicate with the Epson printer and I cannot print anything. If I unplug the HP printer and reboot my PC then the Epson printer works O.K. and the Status Monitor is able to communicate with the printer and it is even able to tell me the ink levels and other useful info. I spoke to both HP and Epson but as usual neither one wants to take responsibility for the obvious conflict. The best they were able to suggest was to unplug my HP printer whenever I need to use the Epson printer.

Help, this problem is very frustrating.

Thank You

I would say this is a problem with the status monitor seeing the HP printer... Run msconfig and remove any entries related to HP or Epson and try again.
