How would I go about accessing my home computer using remote desktop or PCAnywhere through a linksys router?

I am not sure how to open a port that would allow me (with security) to gain access to my home machine using either remote desktop or PCAnywhere. I have a regular setup with three computer going through and getting dhcp ip's from a linksys wireless router. It's connected to a cable modem that has one address (pretty static as I have had the ip for almost a year now.

thanks

First step, you would need to setup static IP addresses for each of the computers, next you have to setup port forward....say for example, external 12.155.3.4:101 --> Internal 192.168.1.10:Port needed for application.  Then from the outside, you have to setup PC Anywhere or Remote Desktop to connect to 12.155.3.4:101 & based on the external port, it will route it into 192.168.1.10.  Make sense?

Remember to keep the machine on that you are trying to access.
