Irfanview is free but have an annoying interface, and far less features than ACDSee.
ACDSee has a trial version if you want to evaluate or compare with IrfanView.

sorry i mustent have been 2 clear. quality and feachers are not realy that inportant for this system. the comp this is for is a file server, file are alwasys being added what i am looking for is a image browser or viewer to check the content of the images. as a point of referance the built-in viewer in winXP dose exactly what i am looking for, out of the 2 suggested progs i found  Irfanview to be prity close 2 what i was looking for exept loding a hole dir at one is a bit of a difaclt thing in this case since dir often have 800+ pic's. i diden't look into ACDsee since it is out of my price range.
thanx for the advice if any one can think of others it would be helpfull.
