Hi all,
how can i quickly update DNS after changing the subnet mask for a domain? I realised that i cannot join a workstation to the domain after i changed my subnet mask. I can only join when i specifically insert the DNS ip onto the NIC of the workstation but i'm doing DHCP and i want clients to obtain DNS server address automatically.
Please help!

Hi,

Make sure to add the DNS server within a scope option (i thought it was opion 6). Then, ask your users to do either a ipconfig /release and the ipconfig /renew, or ask the to reboot there machines (then the machine will try to reconnect to the DHCP server)..

Hi,

Please post responses to the question in the thread, not at the feedback....

>>hi Rhandels
the confusing thing is that the workstations are able to obtain IP addresses from the DHCP, but they are unable to join the domain. Hope this comment helps you to point me in the right direction

thx!<<

So you renamed the domain?? If so, first of all try to ping the domain controller using it's FQDN.. If this works, try deleteing all computer accounts (or just one to test it with) from the AD and try to readd the computer account to the domain..
