Deleting a Terminal Server Licence from a Windows Based Terminal

Hi folks

A real bug bear at the moment for me is TS licencing.  At the moment we have about 100 Windows Based Terminals (WBT) and every time a licence expires we have to replace the box because I don't know of any way to delete the licence from it.  I know on a PC that you can delete the licence by removing the MSLicensing registry key from the LOCAL_MACHINE registry list.

If anyone has any clue whatsoever let me know cos I am getting desperately tired of trying this out!!!!

You've lost me - what sort of TS (2k3? THis is the 2k3 channel), what sort of Client.

What does the TS licence service say?

What does the client get when they try to connect?

Sorry

Its Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services.  Its a Windows Based Client or Thin Client box meaning its not a PC its just an RDP machine with Windows CE on it.  The licence service says its expired and then the client will try to connect but it won't be able to because the machine cannot remove the licence to get a new one.
Oh, a wyse terminal or suchlike... Cool.

lemme think...

Any error messages in the event log?

Nope - it just doesn't let the user log on once the licence has gone.  This is a problem because they are having to replace the boxes each time.
Does the wbt have a standard regedit tool?

less helpful, but still...

I put this one here only for reference - it talks about a w2k hotfix, but maybe if you stop and start the licence service you'll get by.

Thanks - The WBT doesn't have a regedit tool otherwise I think the client would probably have done that and then not have to land this impossible mission on me.  I have yet to find out what make they are.  I have been told they are not Neoware.
Right they are actually Itona Windows CE boxes.  Now if my understanding is correct they don't have hard disk they have a flash disk.  I am not sure how you can get the licence of a flash disk except from flashing the boxes again.

Right ok stepping back a bit this is the real story which I have just been told

The Windows CE boxes picked up a temporary licence from a licence server on the network.  That licence server died and they put a new one in on a different box.  Now the Windows CE boxes cannot pick up a new temporary licence from the old box cos its not there and they WON'T pick one up from the new box.  They are having to put new terminals in and these can pick up a new licence fine.  Now according to my new knowledge it should be the session that guides the box to the licence and not the box attempting to find one.

How can you take the licence off the CE box ????

If anyone fixes this or knows how I will give them a million quid!!!!!
Back to incontrol, I think!

I am not sure - thats for VXL boxes not for Itona right ???  It seems a bit risky if it all goes pear shaped then your without a WBT?!?!?!
well, that's the thing. VXL make the itona!

They sell Itona CE and Itona XP

they sell it with incotrol, which apparently lets you set everything on the WBT, so maybe even licence. But if not, you can upgrade the WBT through it.

It seems to be the real article - not a reseller, but the manufacturor...
Ok

Well thanks for that I will look into it a bit further and mention it to my Tech Director. - I will leave it for now and see if anyone has any idea - if not then I will give you points for being so bloody helpful !!!! :) (that is meant to be in a non-sarcastic tense)
no worries.
I have found out how to do it with a Neoware but Itona is still pestering me - I have told the person to try a factory reset and they have yet to come back to me.  Thanks for your help mate!
no worries. Did you get a look at that in control thing?
