I have a domino database that is nothing more than a page of links to other applications.  I need to add a database to the links.  The database is a client database and is never viewed on the web.  The link database is always viewed on the web.

I have tried to copy as link and place the icon in the form - when the form is viewed the icon is not there.
I have tried creating a hotspot -> url -> placing the url to the database in.  It errors

What is the best way to open that client database from a web page?

If you want to provide a link to the client database so that it opens in the Notes Client, you can use the Notes:// URL format.  You'll need to have 5.09 or greater on the client.  An easy way to get the Notes:// URL is this:

Go to the database, highlight a document, and click File > Document Properties.
Go to the < + > tab
Copy the Notes:// URL shown there and paste it into a browser
That URL will open the selected document, but to get it to just open the database, remove everything after the database replica id.  Here's the format.

Notes://<server>/<database>/<view>/<doc>
