Mandatory Profile not available error

I set up a required mandatory profile.  This means that when the profile is not available I get an error stating :  The profile is not available so you can't login.

THis seemed to be working properly.  However I set up a machine and it worked fine.  Then I set the machine aside for about a week.  Now if I try to login I get the above message.  However, loggin in as the admin I can see the share with the profile IS available.

Additionally logging onto another machine with the original username it works.  SO it is not a problem with the share or the user account since the same account works on other machines.

Any ideas on what is wrong on this one machine?

More details:

Using Kerberos integration for login.

The login verifies username and password and then does "Loading Personal Settings" and then when it starts to do apply personal settings the error I get is :

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Windows cannot log you on because your roaming mandatory profile is not available. This may be caused by incorrect file system permissions or network problems. Contact your network administrator.

DETAIL - Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

However, If I remove the profile path from the user account then the login works and the default account is assigned.  Additionally if I log in directly to the domain with theprofile path set in the user acocunt then the mandatory profile DOES get assigned.

SO it is only a combination of the Kerberos INtegration and the Mandatory Profile....

More details:

I created a new share on a fileserver instead of using a share on a domain controller and so far it seems to be working...
