Hello All,
I am working on developing a flash application which uses XMLSockets
to connect a socket server. Here the server is a C/C++ application
running on a different machine.I am a newbie to flash
programming.Using Macromedia Flash MX 2004 Professional.

While testing, I hosted the flash application on a web server
(IIS)which was running on IP say 15.70.*.* network. The flash
application on getting the user name and password details in the form
submitted by the user has to connect to a server on port 5000 running
on a machine whose IP is 15.42.*.* network.

What happens is the connect() fails? But if the socket server and the
flash application runs on the same machine then it works!

The machines could be pingable and DNS lookup is also successful. We
could connect between these two machines using normal sockets(Windows
sockets).

Is there any limitation on XMLSocket for this? I checked about
cross-domain policy, but not sure whether that would help me in my
case.I am not loading or sending data using loadVars() methods.

If someone could shed some light on this, it would be really helpful.

Thanks & Regards,
Karthik

Not sure the cross-domain sandbox is your issue, but just in case: System.security.allowDomain("nameofdomain.com","www.nameofdomain.com");

I'm not familiar with socket servers, but if you post what you're trying to do, I might be able to help. There could be another way to do it.
