Microsoft Easy Open License?

I'm trying to buy Visual Studio .NET Academic as I'm, obviously, in college.  I found a website that has a decent price and is a trusted website by myself, but the licensing system is "Microsoft Easy Open License", and they don't require any sort of Student ID or verification to purchase the software.

I'm afraid I'm going to get the software and be asked to submit "x" document(s) to Microsoft to prove a lot of crap just to get a license, and I'd REALLY prefer to ignore the hassle.

Does anyone know what exactly this system is (besides what Microsoft says it is, as that doesn't really help me a lot), and if I would be ok to purchase it considering it doesn't require identification?

Thanks!

I still don't -quite- know how in the heck that applies to me as the end-user, but of course that's not your fault or any article's fault.  All of the articles I read tend to be about Software Distribution, and since I'm not a seller or re-seller, I don't know how that affects me as the consumer... does that make any sense?

I'll go ahead and award you the points, but if anyone else can find it in their heart to offer perhaps a little more feedback, I'd appreciate it a lot!
Well to be honest... I don't think it was intended to be interpreted by a consumer... I believe the intention is that the institution rigs the deal and the consumer (student) just does what the institution tells them.  So I think that is why there isn't any data from that perspective.
