Linux Web Server HA and LoadBalancing Suggestions?

Hi,

Currently we have a web server and a java server that work together at site1 to serve our webpages. What I would like to do is set up a second web server and java server at site2. The purpose of these servers would be to either monitor the status of the web\java servers at site1 and take over in the event of a failure, OR to actually set up some sort of load balencing between the two sites and site1 would take over all the load if site2 was down and vice versa.
Does anybody have any suggestions on programs that would do this? I've looked at Open-HA and Application Heartbeat Monitor on SourceForge, but was just hoping for some additional help\suggestions.

Our web\java servers are running RedHat Linux with Apache\Tomcat + Jboss.

Thank you very much in advance!

Good Day,

I have not used any of the sotware packages.  I would recommend reviewing the webmux load balancer from CAI networks http://www.cainetworks.com.  The price is on the low end of all load balancers, however the load balancer comes with a 3 year hardware warranty.

Cheers!
