volume serial number for partions formatted in ext2, or any in linux

dear sir,
is there any volume serial number present for the linux partition ext2, ext3 etc. for windows partitions we are getting the same using vol command. while formatting automatically the volume serial number is creating in windows. but no idea about linux. shall i get more information regarding the volume serial number in linux

hi,
Ext2/3 does not have serial numbers like fat/NTFS.
The SuperBlock of EXT2/3 has other info which might concern you. see

Why do you want seral no of ext2 partitions?
