Web-based JPG contrast, brightness and cropping adjustment

Hi,

I have built a JSP program with the principle use of collecting large numbers of JPGimages and displaying them for the users in my department. They are based on radiological images in which different contrasts and brightnesses are used to view different aspects of anatomy (lung vs brain vs bone, etc.).

Anyway, when the we submit the images to the JSP program we choose preset contrast/brightness options based on the anatomy origin of the image. However, the physician may want to adjust the contrast and brightness, after the images have been created, to better display the aspect of the image desired.

How can I offer them this option within the JPS page in which they can make those changes and resave the image on the server with the new changes? Can I do it with an aplet/servlet or something like that? Any ideas?

Thanks,
ak

I'm not very familiar with the ImageIO class. Can you help me use it?

I have never made system calls from within the java container but I have used ImageMagick in the past to dynamically resize images and save them and its pretty powerful editing tool that is fairly simple to use from the command line. And its free.
