IMPORTING TABLES INTO ONE FMP7 DATABASE

I Currently have 6 different tables. one main table with 6 subtables. i recently upgraded to fmp7. i notice that you can have multiple tables in one database with fmp7. is there a way to import my existing subtables in the main table? also is there a way to import the different layouts i have in each of the subtables.

There is no way to re-import other tables; all you can do is to re-create a table with the same fields, and then import data from the fm6 file into the new table.
For layouts, no real import, but if fields names are identical, you can copy/paste layouts from old models to the new fm7 base.

thanks,
that is what i was afraid of. is having all the databases in one file preferable to having the databases separate as they are now?

yes, 1 single file is easier for backup, some tables can be totally hidden since the window menu can only show what show your layouts, and fm server files limit is now virtually unlimited since the previous limit is now x the amount of tables per file.
Internal tables links are now viewed "access-like".
But it is a headache to "port" to v7. I use it for new projects, but I keep existing stuff as separate files in v7. Too much work to get the scripts ok, all tables and links recreated, etc... On top fm7 does not work under macos9, and very few companies ar 100% osX; the situation is easier on PCs.
