I hate Hp printers!

Hi all,

My HP printer poping up a dialog everytime I start my computer saying installing needs to be finished, and copying files, 97% finished, etc, so I deside to reinstall it. However I don't understand why is take so long to install a HP printer and also to remove them. I've been spending my whole afternoon to reinstall my HP officejet 5510, it just crazy.

to fix, I'd try:
with pc on, printer on, all connected:
 - uninstall any printer software (funky management tools etc)
 - remove all printers from Control Panel.. Printers.
power off, disconnect printer.
power on, check nothing found, and Device Manager is tidy - nothing conflicting.
download latest drivers from:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=311255&lang=en&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&
run appropriate setup.exe for the driver (sometimes better to do these than use the windows hardware detect)

this is all pretty straightforward stuff, and you've probably been through it all already.  In my wayward youth, I have been through the registry, deleting all entries relating to a printer name, which did fix what I was after (Default printer changing on it's own) - but it's a bit of a brutal solution and depending on your confidence, plus ease of fixing (workstation re-imaging, etc) and you may want to save this for the Last Ditch Attempt.

is anything else in the way?  Task Manager showing a high level of utilisation?  What's the current fault?
