My hp1012 was working fine, when I installed an epson C60 driver on the same machine. With C60 hardware not yet installed, I downloaded C60 manual as pdf file, opened dialog box for C60 just to view the printer preferences and properties, etc. Suddenly got a message: SPOOLSV.exe has generated errors ...etc. When I checked printer folder, both were gone. Re-installing hp 1012, got message: the RPC Server is unavailable" ??? Strangely, got same message on my other computer as well.

ok this is an error witht he epsom driver...

to workaround this go to the services tab in administrative tools, look for the rpc service, and restart it, then go to the recovery optiona nd make sure it is set to restart the service each time. ie 1st, 2nd and 3rd attempts..

this should work for now...
