Problems with DDR Memory

I just got a couple DDR Memory sticks (256MB each) and I want to install it in my Dell Dimension 4600 Computer. On the memory stick there is a label that says 'PC2100 ECC'.
Howerver when I turn on the computer again I heard a couple beeps then the computer totally stops, no display, nothing.
I just wonder what else do I need to do such as setting up the BIOS before installing this DDR memory?

ECC is Error-Correcting Code memory (http://www.wordiq.com/definition/DDR_RAM), which is usually used in servers and probably won't work in your Dell 4600.  In addition PC2100 is too slow for it.  Get non-ECC DDR RAM that is PC2700 or faster - see http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.asp?Mfr%2BProductline=Dell%2BDimension&mfr=Dell&cat=RAM&model=Dimension+4600&submit=Go
