when I get the prompt to enter parameters, the two date fields apear in the following format
date(yyyy,mm,dd), the user can select the date from the Calendar pop-up, or else they must enter the date in the same format "date(yyyy,mm,dd)"  see example below

is there any way to format this prompt so the date can be entered as "mm/dd/yyyy" and also without the word "date" in front.

Please advise,
NAM

The report you requested requires parameter values.

The format "Date(yyyy,mm,dd)" is used because that's actually an existing crystal function that converts the year, month, and day values into a "Date" value.  There isn't a way to change this format.

If you don't mind doing the work, you can change your parameter to accept text and then you can create formulas to manually parse out the text into year, month, and day and then use these values to call the Date function internally in your report.  However, this will slow down the report's execution and if the user input isn't valid may cause the report to crash.  That's your only option however if you want to change the format.
