hongjun - First resource is nice but is out of date. It uses the old form <iostream.h> and <ctype.h> include files (should be <iostream> and <cctype>, respectively).

I tend to like Koenig and Moo's Accelerated C++ (http://www.acceleratedcpp.com/ for the companion website). They cover most everyting that is of interest in vector and string.
