The drivers for the tape unit are installed properly and the medium changer is installed properly per W2K Server Device Manager.  However, ARCserve only sees the tape unit as being on-line.  It see the 8 slots in the autoloader, but says the device is off-line and I can't mount it or get it on-line in any way. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Wow, Computer Associates actually beat you guys to the punch.  They called me back and helped me straighten this out.  Seems you have to do the following:

1.  Stop tape Engine
2.  Stop and disable Windows Removable Storage service
3.  Run device configuration in ARCserve.

Worked like a champ!

Not so fast.

Go into the Windows Device Manager and under media changers disable the tape libary and then under tape drives disable the tape drives and restart the system. Those OS device drivers cause real problems for ARCserve. After the system restarts run Device Configuration again.

It is the type of thing that if they are not causing a problem now they will later. It seems that sooner or later the OS drivers for the library and tape drive always cause problems for ARCserve.
