OL2003: Unknown Error when trying to delete a citibank phish attempt

I have a user who has received two phish attempts regarding citibank. McAfee Groupshield has cleaned the message, and announced that it was infected with Phish-BankFraud.eml virus.

The user cannot delete the message though. Whenever she tries, she gets an "Unknown Error" generated, and no other details. Nothing in the event viewer either.

I have tried OL in safe mode, but that hasn't helped. I have tried logging into her mailbox as the exchange admin account, and same thing. I have also tried accessing her mailbox with OL2002 as well.

Any ideas? She cannot delete these messages at all!

Google-fu isn't working, and I can't find anything in the KB.

I wonder if there is a way to remove the virus. May be the virus is working with the email as the source..

Have you attempted to clean the machine off the virus ?

How many email messages are there ?

It would have been easier if it was outlook express as you can move all the messages to a separate folder and rename the original folder so that the email gets deleted automatically ..

Can you drag and drop that message to deleted items folder ?

Okay, some answers:

I haven't actually run a virus scan on the client machine. Groupshield indicated that it cleaned the virus prior to delivering the message to the mailbox. I will try that. Also, she has received two messages of this nature. When I checked the logs in ExAdmin, the same email went to some others in the organization, so I will check with them to see if they are having the same problem.

And, I can't drag and drop. It won't let me!

Okay, well, I found I cold drag and drop to certain folders only, so what I did was to create a PST, create a folder in the PST, then drag and drop the messages to the PST. Once they were there, I removed the PST from the profile, and deleted the file. Seems to have done it.
