trojan virus and spyware

I dont know if this is the right forum, but i seem to have a trojan virus or some sort of spyware on my system because i keep getting popups, how can i remove this or can someone direct me to a free tool that can thanks.

I downloaded a program called spybot search and destroy and it seems to work well, but it found a file called ie pluggins and i was wondering if this might be something i need, any ideas

Hello tentavarious =)

Not only Spybot, u shud run the following three tools also to make sure that ur system is really clean :)

AdAware ==> http://www.spychecker.com/program/adaware.html
CoolWebShredder ==> http://www.spychecker.com/program/coolwebshredder.html
Stigner ==> http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger

and when u run them, Run them in safemode and delete everything they detect !!
and delete that ieplugin thingy also, if Spybot is picking it up,,, coz if its harmful or junk, there is no need to keep it on ur system :)
