IPv6 Helper Service Hung on starting

My xp pro sp2 is freezing every half hour. Event viewer consistantly shows error: IPv6 Helper Service Hung on starting. I have done: manually restarted the service, virus scan, adaware, spybot, chkdsk /r, defrag, fixed irq conflicts between sound card and modem, ran memory tests, updated all drivers including mouse, scoured the internet, Firewall is off, and probably a few other things I've forgotten already. Any other suggestionsfor a very frustrated user?
Thanks in advance.

Under Windows Firewall, I deleted all exceptions, and haven't had a crash in over an hour. Thanks. Question closed

Though the question is closed, I feel compelled to add my $0.02

I would just get rid of the ipc6 protocol.  There is no immediate need for it right away as far as I know.  Unless if your network (isp) uses a 6 octal IP address, why bother?

Thanks for the additional info, zamoti. The strange thing is, tcpip v6 was not installed.
