AAT versus admin console ( install application)

Hello,

why will someone will use AAT and not just go tot websphere admin console and install the new application using the .EAR

what benefits does AAT provides ?????

You don't need AAT to install an EAR file.  If you already have the EAR file, just use console.  Actually, I don't think you can deploy an EAR file using AAT.  You just create it.  The only real use for AAT is if you don't have a tool like WSAD that generates the EAR file for you, you can basically assemble your whole app (servlets, JSPs, EJBs, jar files) and create an EAR file.

I think I used AAT once, then after that I used WSAD.

Actually AAT has been replaced by a dumbed-down version of WSAD that allows you to import your files and generate an EAR file.

Short answer:  if you're using notepad and Javac for development, you might need AAT.
