Monitoring Disk Storage on Microsoft type Networking and computing enviroment

I have a class project in an upper level university class, I AM NOT LOOKING FOR ANY ANSWERS like so many people i have seen here, i am just looking for to be pointed in the right direction or maybe to get some ideas from the bright people who frequent this site:

The challenge i face is that the management of over 200 servers in 15 physical buildings spread across the country Most of the locations do not have server team personnel on site. As you can imagine, there are enormous challenges to support all these remote servers.

The focus of this project will be to find a solution for monitoring disk storage on all the servers. This needs to be an automated process that checks the total capacity and fre/available space on each "logical" drive on every server. The discovery process should generate daily log files that can be stored in a central location and can be used for historical analysis of growth trends. The daily log should send an email alert anytime the available space is less that 20% of the total drive capacity.

Monthly reports should be created from the daily logs to show statistical charts and diagrams of dad growth trends for the month. The monthly report should indicate warnings if growth is more than 1/35th of the total capacity of the drive.

Your help in providing ideas and possible solutions to this buisness case proble would be greatly appreciated. Once again any help that you can provide will be well apreciated, and the points associated reflect this, thanks once again, and god bless!

Yes, i forgot to say that we have a spending limit of $500
Then yuo would have to go with either MOM or the perfromance monitor (HD free space counter) and make sure to add a trigger to it when it reaches a 20% free limit...
