Boot and sytem drive are on IDE 1 as master
Two tape drives are on IDE2 as master and slave
Twice now communication has been lost with the tape drives and they dissapear from the device manager and the backup exec no longer works. The error in the event log refers to losing communication
What can I do to stop this occuring

They are out of warranty but one of them has been giving errors for a while and we reduced the backup to one drive but both are still on the channell
I have removed the bad one. Unfortunately is is the primary and i have jsut left the other as secondary as i couldnt get into it to change the jumpers, hopefully that wont matter.
Currently the computer can see the drive that is in so i will see if it drops it or not in the next few days

Gave up and moved to a SCSI DLT tape, been in a week and working fine. Thanks for your help

Can not check for conflicts as the tape drives do not appear in the device manager and there is no problems with the IDE channels
Note: restarting the server fixed it last week but a few days later it did it again, hence i am here now
