GeFORCE4 MX440 AGP8X unstable on Soltek SL-65KIV

I have an AGP 8X/4X/2X Sparkle (www.sparkle.com.tw) video card based on the Nvidia GeFORCE4 MX440 GPU.

When installed on the AGP 4X capable SL-65KIV (North Bridge - VIA VT82C694X APOLLO PRO133A, South Bridge - VIA VT82C686A), the only way in which I can at least get the video BIOS to boot is by disabling AGP 4X mode, otherwise the motherboard doesn't even get this far i.e. power up and no video BIOS signature screen, let alone BIOS beep codes.

In combination with AGP 4X disabled, I have tried the following settings:

1. AGP driving value: EA, FF
2. Video, system BIOS cache: disabled
3. AGP Fast write: disabled

Does anyone know of any setting combination that will get this board to boot its BIOS?

In your case, when we check the specification of the chipset :

Before advising you on different configuration, have your tried to change the AGP operture size ?
How is it set, for your video card a maximum of 64MB.

Otherwise, just try to use the AGP 4x and enable the AGP Fast Write with a maximum of 64MB. (and try with a 32MB)

Hope that can help.

I had tried both larger (128MB) and smaller (32MB) aperture sizes but these settings won't even let the video BIOS boot.

Will try your other suggestions and revert, meanwhile thanks Arl.

Eventually, this problem turned out to be a faulty video card. I didn't expect that, as the card came brand new out of the box to me (as far as I know).
Am referring this to a moderator for advice on how to close.

This is fine with me.
Hope a new one will fix it.
