Asking for registration before installation

Hi there,

I am building some software to release to the public, and I would like to force the user to enter a random registration key before beginning installation.

Does anyone know of any free programs that exist and provide this functionality?

Is it easy to build something like this? How would I get started?

thanks
Brad :)

I like the OnGuard components, free with source too!

OnGuard looks pretty good, does it provide registration key functionality as well?

If by that you mean, does it generate keys? Yes. I use it to "protect" certain software. I "register" the name, etc, generate an "unlock" key, and..tada...instant protection.
