Hourglass on taskbar problem - for SheharyaarSaahil

Can you help please?

I have the same problem (but something different is wrong in configuration). I have installed my notebook yesterday and everything was working excellent and today after I log in to company domain when I go with cursor over taskbar hourglass appeared and I can't do anything. Can't open My Computer, can't open TaskManager, can't start programs, regedit... In Safe mode everything is working perfect. I suspect on Norton Antivirus because I have installed Norton Antivirus 2004 on my laptom and yesterday my administrator add my PC (by name) to Norton Antivirus network version and I think this is causing me a problem! I got a also a screen message that says:

Hello halexic =)

well i have looked at ur log,, its clean :)
u said >> "In Safe mode everything is working perfect"

so try this,,,, in Normal Mode goto Start>Run>msconfig>Startup
and click on Disable All....
then goto Services tab and tick Hide Microsoft Services
u will get all Third Party services, untick all of them
restart ur machine.
Now check if u are having the same problem or not ??

if NO then u will have to re-enable each application and service at a time and have to trace out the culprit one !! :)

and from next time, instead of posting the logs here,,,, u can use this site >> http://www.hijackthis.de/index.php?langselect=english
It can automatically analyse the log for u can tell that what are SAFE and NASTY entries present in it :)

CAUTION: Before fixing the entries in hijackthis, make sure that they are really Nasty and can be deleted, better u first research for it on Google and then when u will confirm that they shud be deleted, Fix them. And whenever u run Hijackthis, run it from a New folder on ur desktop, so that in case of any problem, u can take advantages of its created backups of fixed items. And in case if u still face problems in dealing with it, just analyse ur log at the above site, and then scroll down where u will see a Save Analyse button, hit it and it will save ur Log Analysation, then copy the link of that page and paste it here, and we will check it for u :)

Thanks, I have managed myself (do almost exactly what you have done) :-)
I have started two hours ago msconfig and remove all unnecesarry and all Symantec services and that solved the problem (after restarting I have removed Norton Antivirus 2004 - I was able to start Add/Remove programs finally).

My administrator installed remotely Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition on my notebook (I have already installed Norton Antivirus 2004) and I got some sort of colision - freezing taskbar, programs won't start...

After removing Norton Antivirus 2004 is all working fine :-)

lolz.... norton is too scary even when its installed once on a system,,, and ur laptop was bearing two two of them,,, the freezing was obvious !! ;-)

but its great, the problem is solved now.... Cheers ^_^
