Does anyone know how to get outlook to remove the new message icon on teh bottom ride hand taskbar once you have viewed a new message using the preview pane RATHER than openning the message fully?

Many thanks

Hi,

In Outlook, go to tools > options.
Then on the 'other' tab select the reading pane options.

Make sure the first tick box is checked ie. Mark items as read when viewed in the Reading Pane
and set a waiting time in seconds if desired. If you want them to be marked as read immediately without time delay set this value to 0.
This should remove the new mail icon as soon as the message is displayed in the reading pane.

Hope this helps
