Configure tera term emulation for Windows 98

I am having problems configuring Tera Term emulation to run on Windows 98. Changing the window settings and saving them does not work. The problem is that the background of the tera term window is black and the font color is purple, very hard to read. Going in to window (tera term window) settings and setting background color to white and font to black works, but when I save changes, the window turns in to a long thin window. Also in the title of the window it should say "Tera term and IP address", but on PC running windows 98, it is just gobledegook. Any ideas? The emulation works fine on W95 and Windows 2000.

ARe you saving the teraterm.ini file to the correct location?  By default, this is in the teraterm folder.   Make some changes to the teraterm profile and check to see that they are saved in the config file.  Also you can try forcing it to use a specific profile by using the   /F=TERATERM.INI (default) parameter.

So a shortcut set up as
"C:\Program Files\TTERMPRO\ttermpro.exe" /F="C:\Documents and Settings\myname\desktop\TERATERM.INI"
would point to a new teraterm.ini file on myname's desktop.

I don't think I've used teraterm on WIndows 98 but haven'yt had a problem on W2K or XP.

As far as I can see when I go in to the teraterm window set up on menu bar and make changes and save changes the teraterm.ini file is overwritten and remains in it's original location. I cant figure out why the window changes to a long thin window just because I have changed colour settings. Should I save the teraterm.ini file in an alsternative location and use the /F=Teraterm.ini parameter?

I haven't seen the particular problem that you describe.  Then again I don't use W98 anymore.  I haven't had any problems with colors.  Teraterm does have some video anamolies that I have seen and this program probably needs a re-write/upgrade.  This is a great term program I wish someone would do an upgrade.

Try to use an alternative location/config file just to make sure it is being written ok.
