OK, this should be easy, but something doesn't work!
I have an older PC with the following in it:
P2L97 Motherboard (slot1)
SCSI-controller (on CD-Burner attached)
Promise Ultra-133 controller (NEW)
OS is WINNT
The problem started when the main HDD started going bad (intermittent clicks, freezes, etc.). I first attached a 40GB HDD to the controller in an attempt to image (GHOST) the bad HDD to the new one. Unfortunately, the mainboard (being so old) couldn't see the new HDD. I then installed the Promise Ultra-133 controller, attached both HDDs, and successfully did a disk-to-disk image. Using NTFSPRO I can mount the NTFS partitions and verify that all the data is there. I disconnected the old HDD and rebooted.
I get no errors. It goes through the normal, SCSI, and Promise BIOS just fine. But when it gets to the point where the OS should load - only a blinking curser.
If the boot.ini was wrong, it would say so (already checked it!).
The BIOS only gives me a choice of first boot device type IDE and SCSI, but won't boot from the Promise controller. I attempted a BIOS update, but the memory type is UNKNOWN and the update won't work at all. That's why I decided on the new controller in the first place!
FDISK shows the partition is ACTIVE (Bootable).
