I've looked all over, and short of calling microsoft (which would be a nightmare i'm sure) i can't find information on what software package / license i need to buy in order to upgrade

Windows SBS 2003 Standard to PREMIUM.

A client of ours opted for the cheaper standard sbs version about 6mo back that we put on one of their servers, and now they need SQL Server on it.  I know Premium has SQL Server.  Is there a version of Premium out there that i can "legally" put on the server as an upgrade to 2003 SBS Standard?  If so, anyone have any links to reputable resellers?

Thanks,
Nick

The SBS 2003 Premium Upgrade should do the trick, silly as it sounds. I don't think there is a minor upgrade version, just the big one...

Bad answer! (on my part)

While looking for a retailer or reseller I found this:

Pricing and Licensing for Windows Small Business Server 2003
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/sbs/howtobuy/pricing.mspx

specifically:

Product SKURetail/FPP*       LicenseOpen NL**       LicenseOpen NL**       License and Software Assurance
Product Upgrade (from standard to premium)      900      n/a      n/a
      T75-00140
Version Upgrade*** (from SBS versions 4.0, 4.5, or 2000 to SBS 2003 Premium Edition)       599      n/a      n/a
      T75-00037

Ok, it doesn't read well, but there is a specific version for product upgrade, and it's more than the version upgrade. In addition it's not available as an Open Licence option...

Please note - the link is from a google search, and I accept no responsibility for pricing, accuracy or reliability of resellers. I will just say that the $$$ matches Microsoft estimates, and that the part number is correct, beyond that you're on your own...

what's the part number on MS's site, and "Microsoft Estimats" got a MS link for this?  I won't hold you responsible ... what webpage did you copy/paste the above from?

Thanks

OH, and FWIW - the SBS Standard Price + the SBS Product Upgrade price = SBS Premium price, so there's no real loss there,  though if they bought OEM then they have probably blown a few $$$.
