Do you need to have a wireless networking card to use WiFi if you have the centrino?  Or will the centrino be enough to connect to wifi.  Why would I need a wireless networking card if I have the centrino?

Hi abstractionz,
If your laptop has built in Centrino Technology, then you already have wireless bult in. However you do need something for that wireless to connect to. So you wil need a wireless Access Point (AP) or wireless router that is then connected to your internet connenction.

God Bless

So what would be the point of buying a wireless networking card?  I'm building a dell system online that has the centrino processor, and one of the options is for a wireless networking card.

First, Centrino is not a just a processor. Centrino combines several thins that make mobile computing easier. Thins like the Intel Pentium M processor,  Built-in Wireless, extended battery life, etc..  See here for more details:

A PC that is Centrino enabled includes an Intel  PRO/Wireless Network connection inbedded.

See here for more informatin on the Intel PRO/Wireless

But to answer your question, if the PC you are buying has Centrino Technology, you should not have to purchase another wireless card.
