PHP Discussion Board filtering

Hello

Is there a way in which the moderator/admin can get a notification email saying that a new message is being requested to post in a current topic. After this notification, the moderator/admin approves or declines the post and then if approved ...allows it to be posted on the discussion board?

I'm using a PHP discussion board.

Please let me know if you need any more information to answer this question.

Totally depends on which board you are using.

Personally I don't know any board-software which by default supports such, but I suppose there would be more people needing this kind of 'plugin'.

From just a php-code point of view. Your requirements are not even that complex.

So could you direct me to some resources to code it in php? Or explain how its done?

It could be done by adding a extra field 'status' or something to each post.

Then you could add a mail() function call when somebody posts in a thread. Then initialy you would set the 'status' to 0. Then you'd change the Select * From posts query - which is not realy select * from posts, but already much more complex - and add a 'AND status > 0' into it.

Third you should make an edit-screen which shows all posts with status=0 and enabled mods/admins to change those zero's to ones.
