IrProps.dll not found in Windows Platform SDK for Windows XP SP2 installation. PSDP_STRING_DATA_TYPE not defined in BluetoothAPIs.h

Hi All,

I am a newbie in Bluetooth programming. To start with I have installed Windows Platform SDK for Windows XP SP2. The Irprops.lib which I assume contains the Bluetooth APIs could be located after installation. However, the dll for the same could not be found. Is there a downloadable version of the dll?

Furthermore, in an attempt to convert the Irprops.lib to a dll, I found that the definition of PSDP_STRING_DATA_TYPE is not found in the header file for Bluetooth APIs (BluetoothAPIs.h). Has anybody come across this problem? How to resolve it?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

As far as I know to develop with BT in XP you need to install a patch and the corresponding SDK.
The minimum requirement to install the patch is to have installed XP SP1.
After that you have to install the corresponding sdk

Look at:
http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/platformsdk/sdkupdate/
There's information about programming with SDK. If I understand what I have read, SDK XP SP2 is not enought to develop on XP platform. So that, you need the Windows Server 2003 Family SDK.

Moreover, you need to install the patch which allows managing BT technology on XP.
Information related to that patch at:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;323183

And finally, my experience is that not all the hardware is recognised by that patch.
I have a Conceptronic USB Dongle and I couldn't communicate with it.

Good Luck and if you have some positive experience please tell me !!!
