How SVG works? What needs to be installed?

I want to understand how SVG works (what needs to be installed) I have marrowsoft XML editor. I am an expert in normal XSLT and xml stuff. Trying to get my hands on SVG.

Prefer small examples and pointers to downloadables...

Any useful pointers will be given 500 points...

hm...how SVG works?

interesting question, SVG is a XML dialect for describing vector graphics.
To create SVG file you can use any approaches you are using to create XML documents: simply type it in your favoriate editor, use XSLT to generete it and so on.

To render SVG file as an image, you need SVG viewer, currently there are no native support n browsers for SVG. You can install Adobe SVG viewer (both for as standalone or browser plug-in) to render SVG.
   Mozilla have a brach with embedded SVG support - but currently it supports not all SVG features, so use it on your own risk.

   XMLSpy and StylusStudio have built-in support for developnig SVG documents.
