Diagnostic-Code: smtp;554 Too many Received: headers on Exchange 2003

Has anyone ever seen this message before? One person is getting it when trying to email somone on our Server, which is running Microsoft Small Business Server 2003.

Action: failed
Status: 5.5.0
Diagnostic-Code: smtp;554 Too many Received: headers

Is there a way to disable this from happening on Exchange?

Almost positive that is not an Exchange error.
Is it being generated by your Exchange server? The full error message should have have the name and IP address of the server that bounced the message back.

Well, it looks like it is coming from Exchange. It says:

Received-From-MTA: dns; (exchange server name of recipient).

Any ideas?

Do you get your email delivered directly or does it come via an ISP?
This error is from a postfix machine - I can find no references to it in connection with Exchange. I am wondering if something between you and the other machine is bouncing the message. It basically means that too many headers have been received - normally as a result of a too many hops.

Is it all messages from this domain? Just this one user? Have you spoken to the admin at the other end to see if they can telnet to your server directly?
