Intranet name not resolved. Using IP but want to use name.

When accessing my company's intranet, I cannot use the name, i have to use the IP. However, all the links in the website use the name, so I'm always having to paste the IP in the address field.

Is there a way to tell Windows the IP of a web when its not on the DNS?

are you using a proxy for your internet if yes put that address in "Bypass proxy for local addresses" In your lan settings of your browser
Go to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\

open the hosts file with notepad

and add

save the document

and try to ping the url :p

Hello. I already had added the entry to the hosts file. I can ping it but the page still won't come up in the browser when entered by name. I cleared the browser cache but still no luck.
