Do programs still run at full speed when a computer is locked?

If I hit Window+L I get the message "This computer is in use and has been locked."  I like that feature for security purposes, but I am wondering if programs I am running still execute at full speed, or if they stop running while it is locked.

Yep, it will keep running just like normal only with no access to the interface.
