I just bought a dell server with xp server and 8 pcs windows xp professional. I want to setup a simple file sharing network with a dsl connection. Does anybody have the steps I should go through to set it up the server, dsl(with a linksys router). If possible it would be nice to track where my employees are going on the internet. Thanks for your help

>>I just bought a dell server with xp server

what OS is there in the DEll server windows 2003 ??

Have you already networked or connected the 8 pcs to the server ?

If not , do that first.
Then create a folder in C drive or whatever drive in your dell server.right-click it and go to sharing and security
and share that folder

go to security and add the users that can have permission to it.
then go to client machine, right-click my computer , go to map network drive , in the location beneath the drive letter give
\\server ip address\share folder name
press OK.
It will ask for administrator username and password. give and you should be able to access that folder

Do the same from other machines aswell
Will this work for you ?
