When trying to u/l files from a web form, I am prompted for a username/password ...

Hi:

I have created a web page that includes a web form.  This .htm file was made using FP 2003.  Everything on the form works just fine with the exception of one item.  I have a button on the page for users to use to upload a file from their computer to my site.  The problem is that when this button is used, a dialog box appears asking for a username/password.  I know this dialog box was created from the addition of the button to upload files because if I take that ONE button off the .htm web form, then the rest of the form works 100%.

So, my question is, how to I fix this so that visiters to the web page can upload files from their computer to me?

I can provide a URL to this page if that would help, but I didn't know if that was allowed in EE when a question is initially asked.

excellent steps, hhammash ... but

I 'break' down when I get to STEP #08 ... because when I Right-Click on the UPLOADS folder, the two choices you say to check mark are GRAYED OUT.  I thought that maybe it was because the uploads folder I created needed to become a WEB folder, but I tried that as well (in fact when I made the uploads folder into a WEB folder, those two choices were GONE and not even grayed out).

So, my next item would be .... how do I make the grayed out choices on the right-clicked on folder become available to become checkmarked.

Thanks .... hopefully, I'll hear back from you, and then I'll be able to move onto STEP #9.

Shawn
Hi,

I know that they are greyed out,  but when you remove the first two, they will be active.  No need to make the folder as web.

First uncheck "Allow Scripts to Run"  then you will see that those two options become active.

I am following what you are saying so far, but when I right-click on the folder, there are three options:

grayed-out box #1 says:

Allow scripts or programs to be run (this is grayed out)

grayed-out box #2 says:

Allow anonymous upload to this directory (this is grayed out)

grayed-out box #3 says:

Allow uploaded files to overwrite existing filenames (this is grayed out)

So, I can't check-mark or un-checkmark anything ....

Any suggestions?

Hey, after reading more about what you said, and then using the HELP feature inside of FP 2003, I read online that to use the UPLOAD feature within FP2k3, that my ISP hosting provider should run the FP2002 server extensions or SharePoint 1.0 team services.  I know that my hosting provider says they use FP server extensions, but they MIGHT just be the 2000 FP Server Extensions.  I'm not sure if that is going to be the cause of this, but I have an email into my hosting provider helpdesk asking that now.  I also asked them what they recommend to get a web page with an upload form button to work with their equipment.

Shawn
They should have FP2002 server extensions.  If they support Frontpage they should have it.  The steps I gave you should show that you don't have a problem in your side.  It must be the host's.

Go to your host webpage,  read about the packages they provide,  they must have mentioned what version of FP extensions they have.

Hope they can help.

Yep, I got an email back from the provider, and they say they offer FP 2002 extensions ... and that they are turned on for my account.

Oh well, thanks for your help anyhow!

Shawn
You are welcome
Just so you know ...

The reason(s) I was not able to get this to work .... really did have to do with both ensuring that the FP extension were correctly installed AND ... folder/website permissions, but not the normal ones.  Once you have your form and all done, you have to be editing it LIVE and go under TOOL then SERVER then PERMISSIONS
