JSP's are bits of code which are compiled into servlets and run to output something to the client's browser

Java Server Faces (JSF) is a framework which is build on top of JSPs to allow you to design websites in a styleable way that follows the MVC architecture (Model View Controller).  Basically, they extract your code out of the presentation layer (JSPs), and into either a View layer or a Controller layer...  They allow you to change the way the site behaves without changing the JSPs
