Migrating from Outlook Express to Outlook 2000 SP1

I changed from outlook express to outlook 2000.  Everthing seems to have imported ok.

But I get these error messages when trying to deal with my contacts.

1st issue.

Contact list did not import properly.

When trying to add new contact.
This address list could not be displayed.
The contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened it may
have been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions.

2nd issue.

A new entry could not be added. Please use the conatcts module to create this entry.

Hi smartsystemsgroup,

IN your outlook ,

Right-click on Contact in the left navigation pane and go to properties
go to outlook address book (TAB)
and check " Show this folder as an email address book"
press OK and check the contacts

close and open outlook and see if you can access contact and add new contacts

Also go to tools and see if you have services.. if you have then you can add a new address book clicking on it and then import the contacts again.. Do this only if the first suggestion of mine fails

Also make sure to have backup of all data..

On the first suggestion, it was checked.

On the second, do I add a outlook address book or a personal address book?

Thanks
smartsystemsgroup,

add outlook address book
then check what i have said in the first suggestion and see if you have it checked
if not , check it

close and open outlook and see if contacts would be fine
I went to add the outlook address book and received the following dialog box

The action could not be completed. This information service has already been added to your profile and cannot be specified twice.
Now are you able to view all the contacts that you imported from OE

is your only issue not being to add new contacts ?

You may want to backup all data within outlook and then recreate the profile going to control panel --> mail --> show profiles and see if that would help. delete the profile , create it again , import all data and see what happens
Yes I can view all the contacts, though I have to click on the second contact option to vew them all.

Cannot add new contacts at all.
smartsystemsgroup,
>  second contact option

Not sure what you mean by above statement ?

what happens when you click on contacts in the left navigation pane.. you should view all the contacts on the right.
now when you press the drop down arrow near NEW on the top left and choose contact, what happens

Ok, sorry. I had the person show me what they were doing to get the error messages.

The goto compose a new e-mail.

When that click on to they recieve the following message:

This address list could not be displayed.
The contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened it may
have been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions.

They click ok.

The Select names dialog box show up

You see no contacts until you goto the Show names from the: drop down box.

You see three choices 1st: Outlook adress book - empty

2nd: Contacts - empty

3rd: (a second) Contacts - full

In that dialog you cannot add to a distributation group

smartsystemsgroup,

this is always a simple problem to fix.. Can you go to help inside outlook and see what version of outlook you have like corporate workgroup , IMO mode..
